could I borrow an egg?

I remember my mom sending me to the neighbor's house to borrow an egg. Or some butter. Or baking soda. There was a knock on the hull the other day and our neighbor C was there. "Hey, can you winch me up my mast?"  Perfectly normal request in this neighborhood.
Lightbulbs to switch out. Lines to replace. Stuff happens up there and so up we must go every now and again. And pulling the lines to get someone up there is part of being neighborly.

Consider yourselves followed by us. Hope it helps. Happy boating. Oh, that is the life my husband would love. I tend to go a bit 'green' while boating! Although, I think I could overcome that if I were sailing around some sort of tropical oasis! Jacinta

I love it. I overheard that request many a-times during my childhood days afloat.

It seems so strange to me that "nowadays" you don't even know your neighbors in most US suburban areas. You don't talk to them because you either don't want to bother them or they could be "dangerous"! What a strange society we're developing into here on land!
